FIRST Connections

FIRST Connections is an overnight experience on-campus at the School of Mines. Students stay in Peterson Hall with either their roommate (if they attend the same session) or with other students from their floor or building.  Activities and games are planned to help students get to know one another -- as well as learn more about campus and living in the dorms.  The following day, students (and parents) take part in more detailed sessions about how to succeed as a first year student at the School of Mines -- meeting faculty, staff, and more!

FIRST Connections is a great opportunity to meet your fellow classmates, learn more about the School of Mines and in general, get connected with what you need to learn, lead, and succeed during your first year at Mines!

This is what some participants from 2006 had to say:

"The most memorable part of FIRST Connections was just getting to know some of the incoming freshmen before actually starting school.  Everything goes so fast when you first start school it's hard to get socially acclimated sometimes."

"I liked getting to meet new people.  I'm much less nervous about moving in this fall."

"Being able to meet my roommates was the best part."

"Late night conversations . . . that was the best part."

Register for FIRST Connections on the New Student Checklist -- cost for a Connections is $35 and includes lodging, meals, and a FIRST Connections T-Shirt.
