FIRST is a great way to learn, lead and succeed at the School of Mines! Just check that you want to be FIRST on your housing application/exemption request form on the New Student Checklist, and you'll be on your way to participating in some great activities designed exclusively for you -- a FIRST year student who wants to learn, lead, and succeed!
- Get reminders of what you need to have completed when.
- Attend summer orientation FIRST Connections -- spend the night on-campus with students who will be your fellow classmates. Get to know each other and more about life at the School of Mines.
- Join other FIRST participants on a FIRST Adventure Weekend -- camping, hiking, community service and more.
- Take advantage of the opportunity to work with FIRST Assistants -- upperclassmen who meet with you individually, provide tutoring as needed, help you get study groups organized and in general ensure you have what you need to succeed as a Hardrocker.
- FIRST Residential -- Living with other first-year students on Peterson 2nd floor.
