Howard Peterson Hall is a 300-bed residence hall that was occupied for the first time during the fall 2004 semester. It is located adjacent to the south end of the Surbeck Center.
Room configurations include suites and standard double rooms. Study lounges, a kitchen, and an exercise room are included. Since the residence hall connects to the Surbeck Center's main floor, the cashier's office, the campus safety office, and a common front desk operation serve both complexes.
The residence hall is named after Dean of Students Emeritus Howard Peterson, a School of Mines alumnus who continues his service as a volunteer to the Foundation, the Alumni Association, and other aspects of campus life.
