The School of Mines does not advocate the use of one student loan lender over another or what many schools refer to as a "preferred lender list". Students and parents are free to choose which bank or credit union they wish to borrow a student loan from.
However, if your bank or credit union of choice does not participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Programs (Stafford, GRAD PLUS or Parent PLUS), you may wish to consider one of the national open door lenders listed below. These lenders are listed here based on their level of customer service to borrowers and their commitment to work with students and their families from the inception of their first loan until all of their student loans have been repaid. You can click on their names in the chart below for further information on borrower benefits they offer in addition to the established benefits required by the Federal Student Loan programs, or you can Click Here for a side-by-side comparison for the Stafford Loan or Click Here for a side-by-side comparison for the Parent PLUS Loan. No current banking relationship is required with Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, College Loan Corporation (CLC) or Citibank. Loans through Wyoming Student Loan (WyoLoan) are for Wyoming residents only.
Feel free to contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have further questions.
