Barb Hansen has worked in college admissions for nearly seven years and thoroughly enjoys working with college-bound students. Barb finds talking to students about science and engineering wonderfully challenging and extremely rewarding. She enjoys traveling to exotic places and meeting people of diverse cultures, from the sapphire mines of Thailand to the pyramids of Egypt — in fact, she spent a year living in Mongolia teaching English as a second language to university students.
Barb has been associated with the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for many years, her husband is a professor of civil engineering and two of her children are graduates.
"The School of Mines is truly one of the rare gems found in the Black Hills of South Dakota," says Barb.
