Important Steps to Enrollment for Spring 2010 – International Transfer Students
· If you are travelling outside of the US before you start your program of study at SDSM&T, please notify the Ivanhoe International Center so we can prepare the new I-20 for you. If you are not travelling, we normally wait until you are on our campus to issue the new I-20. For detailed information on the transfer process, please visit our web site at http://sdmines.sdsmt.edu/MaintainF-1/Transfer.
o If you have not submitted your financial documents for the I-20, please do so as soon as possible.
· Once you have made your arrangements to transfer, you should notify the Ivanhoe International Center of your travel plans to arrive at SDSM&T. We can make arrangements to have someone meet you at the airport, if you wish.
· If you wish to make contact with other students from your home country who are attending SDSM&T, please send an email to the Ivanhoe International Center with your name, major, email address and telephone number.

· If you wish to live in campus housing, you are also required to purchase a meal plan. For the 2009-10 academic year, on campus housing is quite difficult to obtain. Two of our residence halls are under renovations, so space is limited to freshmen and sophomore students in most cases. There are also apartment-style facilities that may be available. For details, please contact the Residence Life office or go to their web site for details.
· Apply for on-campus housing (or request an exemption) and select a meal plan. Priority deadline is December 18, 2009. Go to http://reslife.sdsmt.edu/fallmoveindates.html for information on actual move-in dates.

o If you would prefer to live off campus, we strongly encourage you to wait until you arrive to make living arrangements.
o All students who are within their first two years of high school graduation are required to live on campus, including international students.
· If you have not already done so, send your final official high school and/or college transcripts to:

§ For a college or university transcript to be considered official, it must be sent directly from the issuing institution to our university. If not sent in this manner, it will NOT be considered for transfer credit. Contact the Ivanhoe International Center for additional information regarding official high school transcripts.
· Advanced Credit: Submit AP and/or CLEP scores, or International Baccalaureate (IB) scores (if applicable).

· Submit proof of immunization as soon as possible (2 MMR’s are required); courses will be deleted if not in compliance once the semester begins).

· Make arrangements for COMPASS placement testing (or accept your placement). Please note that if you are an international student outside the US, you may not be able to complete the testing until you arrive on campus. If you are transferring from an intensive English program in the US, please contact a university near you to determine if they offer the test.

o Also available on Registration Day, January 13, Testing - COMPASS Exam (Math and English Placement) - 8:00 am - 11:30 am and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the east computer lab, lower level, Devereaux Library. You may take this exam at any time during the hours listed.
· New Student Orientation. (International students must attend the orientation specific to them. They may also attend any other orientation session if they are in the US.)

· New Student Registration--Academic and Enrollment Services will correspond with all newly admitted students regarding the spring registration process. Please refer to this correspondence for more detailed information or contact Academic and Enrollment Services: (605) 394-2400

- Registration Day, report to the east computer lab in the lower level of the Devereaux Library between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. At this time, you will meet with an academic advisor/mentor who will assist you with the online course registration.
- After your initial registration at the School of Mines, you will have access to online registration via WebAdvisor.
- Need your WebAdvisor ID and Password? Stop by the Registration Help Desk in the lower level of Devereaux Library or in AES Office in O'Harra, room 201. Picture identification is required.
- Complete the 2010 Spring Registration Confirmation available on the student menu on WebAdvisor. If you do not complete this verification form before the deadline of 4:30 p.m. on January 15, 2010, you may be dropped from your classes.
· Pay your tuition and fees or make arrangements by 4:30 p.m. on January 15, 2010.

- Online payment can be made via WebAdvisor using SDePay
- Get more with SDePay - view or print your eBill; sign up for a payment plan; pay your bill without standing in line using a credit card (MasterCard, Discover and American Express), eCheck or your payment plan.
o Payments may also be made at the Student Accounts and Cashiers Office in Surbeck if you pay with cash or check (sorry, no credit cards accepted at the Cashiers Office).
· Register for a parking permit.

· Sign up for a TabletPC Orientation held in EEP 252 at the following times/dates:
