Mechanical engineering students at the School of Mines gain knowledge of the fundamental principles of engineering and science within the major areas of the discipline: control systems, mechanical systems, and thermal-fluid systems. Students leave prepared for interesting and challenging work in every phase of modern technology.
 
The Mechanical Engineering faculty shares a strong commitment to offering a quality education both in and outside the classroom.  As part of this commitment, the department is actively expanding their involvement with industry and bringing their practical experience into the classroom. Students also have access to well-equipped laboratories.
