Interdisciplinary Sciences

The Interdisciplinary Sciences degree offers a solid preparation for professional graduate schools associated with medicine, law and many allied health fields. Because of the flexibility of its curriculum, the IS degree prepares students for career opportunities in many varied and diverse fields.
  • The specialization in Business Applications in Science and Technology combines a strong background in mathematics and natural sciences with coursework in business. Through collaboration with the Black Hills State University College of Business and Technology , students in this area of study complete a minor in either business administration or entrepreneurial studies. This specialization also prepares students for additional study in Master of Business Administration or Technology Management programs.
  • The specialization in Pre-Professional Health Sciences provides students with a strong background in science that prepares them for entry into a variety of graduate and professional programs, including Pre-Chiropractic, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physician’s Assistant,  Pre-Physical Therapy, Medical Technology, and Medical Radiography.
  • The specialization in Science, Technology, and Society combines a strong science background with a firm grounding in environmental, social, and science policy issues. Students pursue a science concentration, such as environmental science, or a minor in a science field, which is complemented by studies in areas such as political science, history, humanities, English, and philosophy. The coursework prepares students for additional study in law school or in public policy programs.
