Concrete Canoe Team Competes in National Competition

A team of South Dakota School of Mines and Technology students recently competed at the 2006 National Concrete Canoe competition, held in Stillwater, Okla.

The team earned the bid to the national competition after placing first at the Rocky Mountain Regional Conference, held at the School of Mines in April.

The concrete canoe competition requires students to design and construct a concrete canoe that will be judged on appearance, weight and presentation and in sprint and endurance races.

The team placed 21st in design, 13th in oral presentation, 12th in final product and tied with four other schools for 19th place overall.
